Canada’s tariffs on Chinese-made EVs pose quandary for next prime minister

“Despite the political turbulence, I expect the tariffs to remain, both in Canada and the U.S.,” Brian Kingston, president of the Canadian Vehicles Manufacturers’ Association, a lobbying group, said.

“Remember these were put in place because there was a clear recognition that our automotive sector cannot be undermined by a subsidized Chinese sector, and efforts were taken to make sure Canada was aligned with the U.S.”
