Marine Le Pen: France Taking Part In Sanctions Against Russia “A Geopolitical Mistake”

The leader of the Rassemblement National (RN) party in France, Marine Le Pen, said the participation of France in sanctions against Russia was a “geopolitical mistake”. She was speaking at a party conference last Sunday.

“France made a geopolitical mistake by taking part in inappropriate and ill-conceived sanctions against Russia,” Le Pen said.

She believes the EU imposed these sanctions “in a state of hysteria from the Ukrainian conflict,”

Le Pen, who also leads the RN faction in the lower house of the French parliament, qualified EU policy on Russia as “imperial” and “belligerent”, stating it was being increasingly rejected by EU countries who are deciding to put their national interests first.

“EU policy is turning from federal to imperial,” Le Pen said.

“Brussels’ dangerous belligerent stance is causing increasing rejection among those forces in the participating countries that prioritize national priorities,”
