Starmer gives Trump ‘veto’ on Chinese investment in UK

Under the terms of the new trade U.S-U.K trade deal, Washington will have the ability to object to Chinese companies investing in the UK, in a clause the Conservatives said amounted to a “veto”.

According to the agreement, both countries “intend to co-operate on the effective use of investment security measures”, which could involve blocking Chinese takeovers.
