Washington’s long fight against Russian energy for Europe

US governments have been trying to prevent oil and gas transactions between Russia and Germany for decades. Because German and other European politicians previously defended themselves against these attacks, the projects still came about. Today things are different. The federal government had already adopted Washington’s position before the Russian invasion of Ukraine and prevented Nord Stream 2 from being put into operation. In his new book “In the Economic War,” the Austrian historian Hannes Hofbauer looks at the Western sanctions policy against Russia and also at the fight over energy deals.
