What does it mean for academic freedom? The case of Professor Patrick Provost, fired for claiming COVID vaccination does not prevent transmission, as Pfizer eventually publicly admitted to the EU Parliament

Dr Patrick Provost, an RNA specialist and former professor at Laval University, was suspended and then fired by his management because he spoke out against mRNA injections for children, and claimed vaccination does not prevent transmission of the COVID-19 virus.

While governments presented the COVID-19 vaccine as “safe and effective” and necessary to prevent infection, it later emerged during a hearing at the European Parliament on 10 October 2022 that the Pfizer knew at the time the COVID vaccine was made available to the public that it did not prevent transmission.

If Université Laval wins its case, who will dare to speak out in the future? This could spell the end of academic freedom.
