John Ivison: Trump’s chief trade rep signals CUSMA worth keeping

John Ivison/National Post: The absence of hyperventilation from the White House in recent months likely reflects the sense that its trade policy is reducing trade deficits and revitalizing manufacturing — or at least it was before the Strait of Hormuz was hermetically sealed.

The implication for Canada is that there is no hint of Trump walking away from CUSMA. That may come, as could further Section 232 national security tariffs, or Section 301 action that gives the U.S. administration power to take action against “unfair trading practices.”…
