Bill C-39 amends 19 acts and four regulations, it repeals one law, and creates a new one. It deserves careful study from Parliamentarians, whether that’s raising some of the issues outlined here, or pressing for details to ensure some of the government’s changes aren’t an attempt to limit judicial oversight or that job cuts at Environment Canada and Fisheries and Oceans won’t mean reviews are shortchanged. This legislation isn’t a temporary Band-Aid to address the current U.S. administration’s threats. It sets up a system that may be with us for decades to come…
