Garry Kasparov: There is a lot to appreciate in Carney’s remarks. I can respect someone who recognizes reality. Pining for an America that no longer exists will leave smaller democracies scattered and vulnerable.

Yet Carney’s references to “strategic partnership” with China—and Ottawa’s recent entreaties to Beijing—are troubling. What is the point of leaving an authoritarian-leaning United States behind only to embrace the People’s Republic of China, a consolidated single-party dictatorship for nearly eighty years?…
