Germany’s BSW party submits landmark motion for the establishment of a Federal Corona investigative committee

The Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) party is calling on all members of the Bundestag to support a motion that calls for an honest assessment of the Corona period with the help of a committee of inquiry. In order for this committee to come into being, the consent of at least 25 percent of the members of the Bundestag is required.

Sahra Wagenknecht, Chairwoman of the BSW Group in the Bundestag, said: “Corona policy has contributed significantly to social division and people’s massive loss of trust in democracy, politics and administrations. Only consistent processing can restore trust. Processing means a committee of inquiry.”

Independent journalist Aya Velázquez who reported on the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) files scandal reacted to the motion, saying “the foundation for the beginning of a parliamentary review of the Corona years at the federal level has been laid” and “whoever wants to pursue serious politics in Germany in the next few years will not be able to avoid the questions raised in this proposal.”
