Hands off our candidates: Grassroots Tories push back against party brass in struggle over who chooses who runs

Toronto Star: That spring campaign saw the party subjected to internal criticisms over how senior officials cherry-picked a number of candidates; something that is permitted under the party’s constitution, but rankled members who felt the grassroots — and prospective candidates — were ignored, poorly communicated with, or shut out from races after starting their campaigns.

“What (that) mainly achieves in the end is to anger and disillusion the lots of very hard-working Conservatives on the ground in their own districts associations.
