The Hill Times: Democracy Watch co-founder Duff Conacher said knowing how MPs vote is valuable information for the electorate, remarking that he’d favour a recorded vote in every instance.
“Some people would say nothing is lost [without a vote] because MPs are controlled by their party leader and they wouldn’t expect to see them diverging from the party line, but that’s just accepting the erosion of the proper role of MPs, which is—for even ruling party MPs—to be holding the government to account and representing the concerns of voters in their riding,” Conacher told The Hill Times…
