‘Talk is cheap’: Defence analysts say diversifying defence procurement will be ‘monumental challenge’

Alexander Salt, post-doctoral fellow at the Canadian Global Affairs Institute, said to translate the strategy into a plan of action will be a long and difficult process and expects hiccups along the way.

“Talk is cheap, but how can we actually put it into practice,” said Salt. “It’s a monumental challenge that is not impossible to achieve, but what it’s really going to come down to, is when things go wrong as we implement this policy, does Ottawa have the ability to adapt and overcome those challenges, and we have to just wait and see.”…
