Trump admin’s decision to freeze Canada-U.S. defence board is gangland threat uttered through clenched teeth

Allan Woods/Toronto Star: It casts shade on Prime Minister Mark Carney’s growing international spotlight. It minimizes Canada’s recent increases in military spending. It targets this country’s newly reinforced defence partnerships with Europe.

And it’s probably also trying to hard-sell dozens more American F-35 fighter jets.

But this is the new hardball reality the federal government is dealing with — and will be stuck dealing with — for the next few years at least…
